Bare Knuckles: It's an all-day Smash Bros. tourney.
Super brawlers can get a fix at Wachovia Center
Since everyone is trippin' over themselves and in general to get their hands on
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
for the Nintendo Wii, it's only natural that I inform you brawlers out there that the first real organized
SSBB
tournament in our area will hit the Wachovia Center next Saturday.
That's right, King of the Couch (a.k.a. Rod Lane) and DeVry University are holding an all-day Slam Dunk Tournament smackdown. On tap are lots of prizes and stuff like Sixers ticket discounts for that night's game.
For those who don't Wii, don't fret - Halo 3, NBA 2K8 (PS3 & Xbox 360), and Madden 08 (PS3 & Xbox 360) brackets will also be set up.
Now listen, kids, this is mostly about fun and games but those of you who are actually thinking about what to do with your lives, make sure you check out the DeVry folks who will be there. They have some interesting video-game-related degrees.
All the info is at www.king ofthecouch.com.
Grand Theft of the Box Office
Not that you guys remember anything I write - heck, sometimes I don't - but at least pretend that last year I mentioned Hollywood's moanin' and groanin' about how
Halo 3
drew more attention from teens than those oh-so-interesting movies of the fall.
Well, now it looks like Hollywood is pre-poo-poo-ing the release of Grand Theft Auto IV's effect on the release of the spring blockbusters. According to the Next-gen.biz Web site, industry analyst Mike Hickey had this to say in regard to Marvel Entertainment stock:
"We anticipate the video-game release of GTA IV on April 29 could dampen the potential from Iron Man's theatrical release on May 2."
I guess it's possible, but there is a difference here. Iron Man looks awesome. Last fall we had movies like The Comebacks and The Seeker: The Dark is Rising. I'm just saying.
Priceless
I don't want to pile on. . . . you know what?
Yes I do!
Anyone remember former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's railing against
Grand Theft Auto
games for their use of prostitutes? Again, just saying.
