Sideshow: Source for Fleming's Moneypenny?
A cache of letters between Ian Fleming and a typist named Jean Frampton, sold yesterday to an anonymous private collector for $28,000, reveals that there was a woman behind the man behind James Bond - a veritable Miss Moneypenny who helped the Bond author with literary advice ranging from spelling and grammar to character development and plot.
A cache of letters between

Jean Frampton
, sold yesterday to an anonymous private collector for $28,000, reveals that there was a woman behind the man behind James Bond - a veritable Miss Moneypenny who helped the Bond author with literary advice ranging from spelling and grammar to character development and plot.
Amy Brenan
, from the auction house Duke's of Dorchester, which sold the letters, said Fleming and Frampton conducted their friendship entirely by post. Brenan said Fleming, who came "across sometimes as misogynistic," was always deferential to Frampton and that he so respected her advice, he created the character of Miss Moneypenny in her honor.
Ice continues to represent
Sometime rapper, sometime joke
Vanilla Ice
(
Robert Van Winkle
) was arrested at his home in Wellington, Fla., Thursday night on a charge of assaulting his wife. Vanilla's wife,
Laura
, told police that Vanilla had hit and kicked her during an argument over furniture.
Vanilla, who was held overnight, was released yesterday on his own recognizance but with court supervision (he must regularly check in on the phone with officials). The judge also ordered him not to go back home or have any contact with his wife except by phone.
"I love my wife and I know she feels bad about this," Vanilla told the court.
Mills' epic battle continues
In an entertaining if embarrassing tirade,
Heather Mills
, 40, yesterday blasted her ex-husband
Paul McCartney
on British TV, asserting that that even though the couple's divorce is settled, the war between them continues.
Hers is a war of mythic - nay,
biblical
- proportions, Mills implied, describing her struggles with Paul as a "
David
versus
Goliath
" battle. She also implied she's
Robin Hood
and
Abbie Hoffman
all rolled into one, because she has been "fighting the Establishment." Hm, and I thought she was just trying to get a chunk of the ex-Beatle's $1.56-
billion
fortune? (She was awarded divorce settlement of $48.6 mil.)
Asked if she's dating, Mills turned the question onto Sir Paul. "I think he's got three different girlfriends," she said. "So I wish all the girls the best of luck."
A Parade of wealth
Looks like the
Olsen
girls are no longer the richest kiddie celebs in the universe. (Well, for one thing, they're, like, 21 years old now.) According to Parade magazine's annual What People Earn issue,
Mary-Kate
only made $17 mil last year, well short of the $18.2 mil the 15-year-old
Miley Cyrus
raked in.
But that's peanuts compared to the year's take by
Oprah Winfrey
($260 mil),
Tiger Woods
($115 mil),
Steven Spielberg
($110 mil) and
Dr. Phil
($90 mil).
Poor Miley. Heck, she's actually in the same income bracket as
Leona Helmsley
's dog,
Trouble
, who made $12 mil from the trust fund the late philanthropist left her.
The miracle of birth . . .
Elisabeth Rohm
, 34, whose portrayal of an assistant D.A. on
Law & Order
was quite underwhelming, and her fiancé, entrepreneur
Ron Wooster
, 40, on Thursday welcomed their first baby, a girl, who was born in L.A. Rohm's rep said the baby's name,
Easton August Anthony
, came to the actress in a dream.
