Sideshow: A sex video with Hendrix?
Los Angeles-based porn video company Vivid Entertainment claims it is releasing a genuine, bona fide sex video starring the late guitar guru Jimi Hendrix (blasphemy!), who died in 1970 of a drug o.d. (tragedy).

Los Angeles-based porn video company Vivid Entertainment claims it is releasing a genuine, bona fide sex video starring the late guitar guru
Jimi Hendrix
(
blasphemy!
), who died in 1970 of a drug o.d. (
tragedy
).
The 11-minute segment, which Vivid says was shot 40 years ago in a hotel room, shows a man who looks like Hendrix in flagrante delicto with two women. The company says experts have authenticated the footage.
But Hendrix biographer
Charles R. Cross
(
Room Full of Mirrors
) tells the Associated Press that he's not so sure it's Hendrix in the film. He said the face and nostrils of the man on the tape don't quite match those of Hendrix.
"This is somebody that looks like Jimi or is pretending to look like him, but it certainly didn't look like a dead-on match to me," Cross said yesterday.
Reps for the Hendrix estate declined to comment.
Miley Cyrus, would-be role model
"I don't want to be perfect, but I do want to be a role model. I want to be someone who can be looked up to,"
Miley Cyrus
, 15, says to
The Insider,
a day after being embarrassed by a Vanity Fair photo that makes her look sexy and semi-nude. "My favorite thing that my mom tells me almost every day is that imperfections equal beauty." (I like that.)
Can Miley continue to be
your

Billy Ray reacts
Anonymous sources "close to [Miley's] father,
Billy Ray Cyrus"
tell
Entertainment Tonight
that had he been there, the country star would never have allowed the photographer to take those shots.
The man on the street . . .
. . . says - by an overwhelming margin - that
Annie Leibovitz
's pictures of Miley were "inappropriate for a 15-year-old." People mag's poll found that 77 percent of citizens felt it was icky, while 23 percent found them "appropriate."
But respondents were almost evenly split on whether the Vanity Fair spread would help Miley's career (49 percent) or hurt it (51 percent).
Bonnie Fuller's 2 cents
Gossip news gourmand
Bonnie Fuller,
formerly editor of the glossy compendium of gossip glossolalia, Star mag, has shed light on
MileyGate
by making a wise, well-considered, astute comparison between the singer's photo scandalette and the current Texas polygamy scandal, in which members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have been accused of forcing underage girls to marry and have sex with older men.
"Is it OK to sexualize a fifteen-year-old if it is in the pages of a high falutin' magazine and her parents seem OK with it? Or is this really not much different from parents in a cult acquiescing to having their teen daughters wedded and bedded?" Bonnie writes in the highfalutin purveyor of
intellectual
gossip, the Huffington Post (

).
Without contradicting Ms. Fuller, as the wizened correspondents at Gawker.com point out, Miley's case has to do with a photograph,
while the Texas case involves allegations of actual statutory rape.
A feminist's take
Author-activist
Erica Jong
, on the other hand, had this to say on the HuffPost blog: "If Miley had any spunk, she certainly would take her clothes off and stay naked 'til we got out of Iraq. . . . Stop feeling embarrassed for your non-nakedness, kiddo. Start feeling embarrassed for your country!"
More boldfacers weigh in

Cher's clothes
Miley could learn a thing or two from showbiz veteran
