Married

May 3 at Paris Caterers at the Palace in Blackwood, Camden County. Bishop Alvin Davis, the bride's uncle, officiated, and a reception for about 160 followed.

They met

During the spring of 1997, Brandy and Geoff would see each other every morning as they waited for the El at 56th and Market. They would say hello, but neither knew the other's name until the day Brandy noticed Geoff walking beside her on the way home. She had just had her hair cut, and he noticed. "He stopped me and said, 'You know, your hair looks nice,' and I said, 'Oh! Thank you!' and then we just started talking," Brandy said. They realized they lived just blocks apart, and they exchanged numbers.

He asked

Geoff planned a romantic proposal after a nice dinner last August. There was candlelight and lobster, but Brandy fell asleep on the car ride home. He decided not to wake her, but couldn't wait much longer to propose. The next day, Brandy drove Geoff to his job at the airport. She got out of the car with him at the departing flights drop-off to say good-bye. He hugged her, then pulled out the ring.

9 to 5

Brandy, 31, is a docketing clerk for intellectual property with a Center City law firm. Geoff, 33, is a ramp agent for an airline at Philadelphia International.

Making a home

The couple live in Yeadon.

First steps

To "When I First Saw You" by Jamie Foxx and Beyoncé.

Doing it their way

Brandy and Geoff opted for bling. She chose a strapless, A-line dress with a vintage look and a lot of rhinestones and beads. With the help of Randi Martin of Always Fabulous Events, the couple glammed up the tables with tall centerpieces of submerged red flowers, and a generous sprinkling of ruby red and platinum tempered glass jewels.

Not a dry eye

Brandy still gets emotional when she sees the ring she put on Geoff's finger. "It just sealed the deal," she said. "I look at the ring on his hand, and I just get so happy."

Bloopers

After placing the ring on Geoff's hand, Brandy smiled and gave it a little pat. The guests took her gesture to mean "You're mine now!" and laughter filled the room. Geoff had a little difficulty taking off Brandy's garter. The netting beneath her dress was stuck on the rhinestones on her shoes, and he had to untangle that first.

Brandy says

"Take your time on your wedding day and take everything in. After a whole year of work, the day blows by fast. Enjoy it."

Geoff says

"Do whatever she wants!"

Honeymoon

A five-day cruise to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
