Ed McMahon

, who is $644,000 behind on the payments on his Beverly Hills house, tells

Larry King

that the economy has taken its toll on him.

"If you spend more money than you make, you know what happens," said McMahon, 85, who appeared on King's CNN show with his wife,

Pamela

. McMahon, who cut his teeth in TV broadcasting in Philly, said he hasn't been able to work since he broke his neck 18 months ago. He said 50 potential buyers have looked at the $6.25 mil mansion over the last two years, but to no avail.

Pamela admitted the couple haven't managed their money wisely: "It's embarrassing, to say the least, and it's sad, because you know, Ed's worked his whole, entire life."

The couple continue to negotiate with the lender.

Out with the old . . .

The newly remarried

Charlie Sheen

, whose recent divorce was uglier than some, has vowed to never utter the ex's name in public again. Like ever. "I'm so tired of talking about her and all her shenanigans," he said.

. . . in the with the new

TVGuide.com and OK! mag report that Charlie and his new bride,

Brooke Mueller

, wrote funny vows for their May 30 wedding. Sheen promised to "organize less and listen more" and "quit breaking a hug too soon." Brooke vowed to "cook more meals outside of the microwave" and "clean my closet at least once per decade."

Love blossoms for Ryan

Just two months ago,

Ryan Phillippe

was telling People "it's bizarre" to see his ex-wife

Reese Witherspoon

out in public with her new beau,

Jake Gyllenhaal

. Now, he's got his own arm candy to throw back at her. That'd be

Abbie Cornish

, who was with Ryan on Thursday at the Australians in Film 2008 Breakthrough Awards.

"They held hands" all night, says People. And at one point, "Phillippe rubbed her back while she leaned against his shoulder." (Surely a sign of a considerate lover?)
