SHEAR GENIUS. 10 tonight, Bravo.

PASADENA, Calif. - Some people have good hair days. Jaclyn Smith has had a good hair life.

It was a television shampoo commercial that got her into acting. Young and old copied her mane when she was one of the stars of "Charlie's Angels."

Now, Smith returns as the host of the second season of Bravo's cable series "Shear Genius." The series pits hairstylist against each other in a series of elimination challenges. The winner gets a $100,000 grand prize.

As important as hair has been to Smith, she has never had the urge to pick up a pair of scissors to chop some locks.

"I wouldn't even dream to take it on. I think people underestimate what it takes to be an incredible stylist. It isn't just the talent with scissors. It's the vision. And it's really taking into consideration that individual. It's about hearing and looking at that individual. You have to have an innate talent for it," said Smith during an interview to promote the new season of the cable show.

Judging the contestants are Kelly Atterton and Kim Vo. Atterton is the West Coast editor of Allure magazine. Vo is a stylist for celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst and Teri Hatcher.

Noted stylist Rene Fris serves as a mentor for the competitors.

So with all that talent, it is a little hard to have a bad hair day on the set. That might change this season as one challenge will have the competitors cutting hair while blindfolded.

Asked whether she would be willing to let the winner of the cable show re-do her hair, Smith paused and then said, "No. They're all very talented. But you know what? You get into your groove." *
