They hope 'Yule' watch

Don't have a fireplace? Comcast has an idea. It's put its high-def "Yule Log" on the On Demand menu (under Top Picks, with a choice of other winter-themed backdrops) through Jan. 2.

Don't have a fireplace?

Comcast has an idea.

It's put its high-def "Yule Log" on the On Demand menu (under Top Picks, with a choice of other winter-themed backdrops) through Jan. 2.

Free to digital cable subscribers, the log doesn't produce much in the way of heat or allow Santa access, but does play holiday music, which is probably more than you can say for most fireplaces.

Good start for Fishburne

Last week's episode of CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," averaged 20.6 million viewers, the show's best performance in total viewers and advertiser-friendly demos since the Oct. 9 season premiere.

The episode, which introduced Laurence Fishburne to the series and was the next-to-the last in which William Petersen will be a regular, aired opposite a rerun of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," and fresh episodes of NBC's "The Office" and "30 Rock."

Petersen's last regular appearance is scheduled for Jan. 15.

More 'Doctors' on call

CBS Television Distribution has renewed "The Doctors" for a second season in syndication, the company announced last week.

The "Dr. Phil" spin-off, produced by host Phil McGraw's son, Jay, airs locally at 3 p.m. weekdays on KYW (Channel 3). *
