Tattle: Cameron Douglas faces drug charges

PROSECUTORS in Manhattan have accused Cameron Douglas, the 30-year-old son of Michael Douglas, of dealing large quantities of meth. A criminal complaint made public yesterday alleges that New York users paid Cameron beaucoups bucks for the drugs.

PROSECUTORS in Manhattan have accused Cameron Douglas, the 30-year-old son of Michael Douglas, of dealing large quantities of meth.

A criminal complaint made public yesterday alleges that New York users paid Cameron beaucoups bucks for the drugs.

The complaint says the cash was sometimes sent by FedEx to Cameron at a California hotel - or perhaps the Hotel California.

It says he in turn would ship the drugs to New York or deliver them in person.

He was arrested July 28 at the Hotel Gansevoort in Manhattan, presumably delivering them in person.

The boat identity

Director Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity") was sailing on the Hudson River with friends Wednesday morning when he saw a black cargo ship on a collision course with a speedboat.

It turned into the nautical equivalent of a hit-and-run.

Within seconds, Liman says he motored to the scene and plucked three passengers from the water.

They had only minor injuries. The Coast Guard is investigating.

Mayor gets flagged

The Los Angeles suburb of Carson has limited the power of Mayor Jim Dear after he ordered the American flag flown at half-staff on July 7 to honor Michael Jackson.

In lowering the flag, Dear called Michael an African-American success story and a world-renowned idol.

Veterans were upset and the decision sparked critical e-mails, letters and phone calls.

Dear now has been stripped of authority to lower the flag.

He says if he had another chance, he would lower the city flag for MJ - not the national flag.

'Idol' jumps shark

The soccer and the constant photo shoots have done little to raise their U.S profile, but the pop-culture powers-that-be are going to force the Beckhams down our throats whether we want them or not.

Victoria Beckham, the former Posh Spice, will be a guest judge this season on "American Idol."

(Her manager is "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller.)

Bring back Paula.

Aerosmith not aerodynamic

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler received head, neck and shoulder injuries in a tumble from the stage at a South Dakota concert and joked about the fall as he was loaded into the helicopter to be taken to a hospital, a concert spokesman said yesterday.

Tyler, 61, whose antics often include swaying and grinding on microphone stands adorned with scarves, fell while dancing around after the sound system failed during "Love in an Elevator," said Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground, which hosted the outdoor concert.

Aerosmith fans thought the flop was part of the act.

About 12:15 a.m., guitarist Joe Perry came out to tell the audience that Tyler was being taken to the hospital and that the show was over.

* The Hollywood Reporter says

Lucy Punch, who recently replaced Nicole Kidman in Woody Allen's next film, is almost set to join Steve Carell and Paul Rudd in "Dinner for Schmucks."

Jay Roach ("Meet the Fockers") is directing the remake of the 1998 French comedy "Le diner de cons" ("The Dinner Game"), written and directed by Francis Veber.

The new version, with its incredibly un-subtle title, involves the most pathetic guy ever to be invited to another man's weekly dinner party.

* Also in the works is Ridley

Scott's adaptation of Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World."

The Hollywood Reporter says Leonardo DiCaprio hopes to star in the story, set in a seemingly perfect 26th-century world that has achieved harmony by tightly controlling birth, which takes place mainly in laboratories, and outlawing family.

* Laura Dern is set to join "Enlightened," a comedy in development at HBO. Mike White ("School of Rock") is writing the pilot, which centers on a formerly self-destructive woman who has a spiritual awakening - and you know how annoying those people can be.

"There are so many dysfunctional types of characters populating cable television, and she is equally as dysfunctional as any of them," White said, "but her impulse is to get healthy, to make the world a better place even though it creates havoc."

* Ninety-two year-old Ernest

Borgnine will receive a lifetime achievement award today from the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

The "McHale's Navy" star will receive the award at a Providence screening of his new film, "Another Harvest Moon."

Other film credits include "From Here to Eternity," "The Dirty Dozen," and "Marty," which earned him an Academy Award.

* It's been a while since Tom Sizemore has made the Tattle pages, but all good behavior must come to an end.

The 47-year-old actor was arrested Wednesday night in downtown L.A. for alleged domestic violence. His bail was set at $20,000.

* Czech superdupermodel

Karolina Kurkova is joining

the catwalk baby brigade.

Kurkova, 25, joins fellow Victoria Secret models Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen and Heidi Klum, who are also expecting.

This will be the first child for Kurkova, who plays a runway- model-turned-spy in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," and her film producer-fiance, Archie Drury.

"You know, it's probably the new thing to be pregnant. It's not to have the Chanel python bag. It's to be pregnant," she said.

We knew that sexy lingerie was going to lead to trouble.
