The History Channel's ordered its first scripted miniseries, and it's about the Kennedy family.
"The Kennedys," an eight-hour series from "24" co-creator Joel Surnow, is scheduled for 2011. Those expecting a whitewash of the Massachusetts clan may want to keep in mind Surnow's friendship with conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
Also premiering after the Olympics: "The Marriage Ref," a comedy-based "reality" show from Jerry Seinfeld that's scheduled to launch March 14.
In other scheduling news, the CW's "Life Unexpected" premieres Jan. 18.
"I am thrilled, daunted and honoured - with a 'u' - by this new responsibility. 'House' scripts are Fabergé eggs, and I will try my very hardest not to drop this one on a stone floor." *
"House" star Hugh Laurie, who'll direct his first episode of the Fox hit this season, released this Laurie-like statement: Five episodes of "Defying Gravity" ABC hasn't aired are on the "Season One" DVD that goes on sale Jan. 19.
