Sun peeks through for Mummers
The sun broke through today for the 110th Mummers Parade. Among those who felt the tradition keenly was Peter J. Broomall, the captain of Broomall String Band, started by his grandfather 80 years ago.

The sun broke through today for the 110th Mummers Parade. Among those who felt the tradition keenly was Peter J. Broomall, the captain of Broomall String Band, started by his grandfather 80 years ago.
"Some get wrapped up in the competition. It's the tradition that's important," he said.
He was resplendent in white overalls, which were adorned in glittering orange braid. The club chose an agricultural theme, with musicians playing a spirited medley of "Turkey in the Straw," "Old McDonald," and the theme from the Green Acres television show.
Milk maids danced in a chorus line and Broomall wielded a giant golden pitchfork.
