Rumors of a Dr. Dre and Jay-Z collaboration started circulating last week after the release of an image of the two heavyweights in a recording studio together. Now, Dr. Dre and music executive Jimmy Iovine have confirmed that the two rappers indeed joined forces for a track titled "Under Pressure."
"The new song Dre has in his pockets called 'Under Pressure,' " Iovine told New England Sports Network when asked what track he would use as his at-bat song if he were a Major League Baseball player.
"Absolutely, that would be it. 'Under Pressure' - it's so fitting," Dr. Dre agreed, adding that he'd like Red Sox DH David Ortiz, aka "Big Papi," to consider using the track. Dre and Iovine were at Boston's Fenway Park for the Red Sox vs. Yankees game promoting the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.
Also rumored to appear on the oft-delayed Dr. Dre album are Nas, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Eminem and T.I. The Aftermath/Interscope album has no official release date yet.
T.I. gets 'aggressive'
T.I. has posted his first on-camera interview since completing his jail sentence. The clip appeared on his official Web site, trapmuzik.com.
In it, he revealed a few more details of his still-untitled album, slated for an Aug. 24 release, describing it as "significantly more aggressive."
" 'Paper Trail' was a lot more about thoughts; this is more about feelings. This is significantly more aggressive, or at least at this period in production," he said, adding, "at this point . . . it's going hard. It's going hard like classic T.I."
T.I. said he didn't get much creative time while in jail.
"I didn't write too much. People might have thought I was doing a lot of writing, but I didn't write that much," he said. "I didn't get a lot of time to. It was a lot of activity around me, so I really wasn't motivated to create."
T.I. was sentenced to a year and a day in jail last March stemming from a 2007 arrest for attempting to illegally purchase firearms.
Last month he premiered his latest track, "I'm Back," on the same site. The song has since reached No. 33 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 49 on the Hot 100.
