Showtime gets 'Shameless'
Showtime has ordered 12 episodes of "Shameless," an Americanized version of a British show about a "dysfunctional working-class family" that will begin production late this summer.
Created by Paul Abbott ("State of Play"), who based "Shameless" in part on his own "complicated" childhood as one of 10 offspring of a blue-collar family, the U.S. version will star William H. Macy ("Fargo") and Emmy Rossum ("Phantom of the Opera") and be produced by John Wells ("ER," "Southland").
Macy, according to Showtime, plays the "alcoholic patriarch . . . who usually ends up passed out on the living room floor."
New single, double duty
Tonight's "Gossip Girl" (9 p.m., Channel 57) will feature a song, "Your Love Is a Drug," from a new single by Leighton Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf on the show (where we don't think we've heard her sing a note).
'Little House' memoir
Melissa Sue Anderson, who played Laura's blind older sister on "Little House in the Prairie," has written a memoir, "The Way I See It: A Look Back at My Life on Little House," that will be published May 4.
