Sideshow: Halle Berry: 'Not done with love'

Watch out, love, she's not done with you. Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, who broke up with her baby's papa, Gabriel Aubry, earlier this year, tells Vogue she won't stop her romantic scorched-earth campaign until she meets The Right Guy.

Watch out, love, she's not done with you.

Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, who broke up with her baby's papa, Gabriel Aubry, earlier this year, tells Vogue she won't stop her romantic scorched-earth campaign until she meets The Right Guy.

"I'm not done with love, but I refuse to settle. I am a hopeless romantic," says Halle. "And I won't stop till I get it right."

Halle, who gave birth to Nahla in March '08, says she and Aubry have a powerful, lifelong bond.

"We were meant to bring this amazing little person into the world," she says of Nahla's father. "And I think that's why we came together. And because of that, we are going to be together forever, all three of us."

Forever in parenthood, perhaps, but not in romance. "It's just that you realize you are not meant to go the distance with everybody," Halle adds.

So why has the X-Men beauty not given an interview in three years?

"I was burned out with having other people tell the story about me they wanted to tell," Halle says. But why now, why Vogue - and why on the cover?

Because, she says, of "what that means for a woman of color and what that means in the fashion world."

Fantasia's tragic love affair

Fantasia Barrino, 26, was released from a hospital in the Charlotte, N.C., area Wednesday after an apparent suicide attempt two days earlier, overdosing on aspirin and a sleeping aid.

"She has been lifted up by the outpouring of love and support from her fans," her manager, Brian Dickens, says. "She is more committed than ever to her daughter and her work."

People reports that Fantasia was in despair because her married beau, Antwaun Cook, had broken off their affair. The American Idol champ also was distressed that Cook's wife, Paula, had cited the singer's affair with her husband in a divorce petition.

Dickens says Antwaun, who had been with Fantasia for 11 months, led her to believe he and his wife had "separated in the late summer of 2009." But Paula's divorce papers say she and her husband, who have two sons, only started living separately in June of this year. To make matters more complicated, an anonymous source tells RadarOnline that Fantasia and her former lover made a sex tape during their affair.

A pint-size Susan Boyle?

Pittsburgh-area fourth grader Jackie Evancho has transported the nation - and the judges on America's Got Talent - by advancing on Wednesday to the show's semifinals.

The 10-year-old soprano wowed audiences Tuesday with her rendition of the Puccini aria "O Mio Babbino Caro." But some critics claim Evancho was lip-syncing on the NBC show.

No, says producer Jason Raff. That's just the way she looks on video. During rehearsals, "the whole crew was saying it looked like she's lip-syncing," he says. "And on the close-ups, her mouth is moving a different way than the sound coming out. It is weird, but it's just how she sings." We are happy to believe him.

Bold-faced legalisms

Would all-American beauty Paris Hilton sully her beloved tresses with extensions? Apparently so. (Eeewww!)

Hairtech International Inc. has filed a $35 mil breach-of-contract lawsuit in Los Angeles against the celebutante claiming she agreed to promote its fake tresses but instead had been spotted wearing extensions made by a competitor. Paris reportedly was paid $3.5 mil to push Hairtech's product.

The company also claims that the Simple Life star missed a 2007 launch party for its extensions because she was in jail.

Paris' rep, Dawn Miller, has yet to comment.

A little-known author named John Savage is suing Ricky Gervais claiming the acclaimed Brit comic's children's book, Flanimals, plagiarizes Savage's 1998 book, Captain Pottie's Wildlife Encyclopedia.

Gervais' rep says the Extras star disputes Savage's allegations.

E! News says authorities investigating the Mel Gibson-Oksana Grigorieva assault case want to interview Violet Kowal, the Polish-born model who has claimed she was Mel's lover while Oksana was pregnant. So why the big headline? Does Kowal have some deep, dark secret to share? E! doesn't speculate.

TMZ says Asia'h Epperson, who made it to the Top 24 on American Idol in '08, was arrested Thursday after getting into a scuffle with an unidentified woman in a Hollywood nightclub.

Today in EntBiz news

USA Today reports that Broadway owes its survival in these bleak economic times to the sweet sounds of music. Musicals took in 85 percent of ticket grosses through July, according to data from the Broadway League. Top sellers Wicked, The Lion King, Billy Elliot, Jersey Boys, and Mary Poppins took in $181 mil.

Speaking of musicals, George Wendt, who so wonderfully warmed a bar stool during Cheers' long run, will put his famous belly to good use as Santa Claus in the holiday musical comedy Elf. Based on the '03 Will Ferrell movie, the show costars Beth Leavel and will run Nov. 14 through Jan. 2 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
