Sideshow: For Cox, love is second place
Courteney Cox doesn't believe in that tired adage "all you need is love." Cox says there may have been plenty of love in her failed 11-year marriage to David Arquette. The pair, she insists, simply are incompatible.
Courteney Cox doesn't believe in that tired adage "all you need is love." Cox says there may have been plenty of love in her failed 11-year marriage to David Arquette. The pair, she insists, simply are incompatible.
"The thing is, when you get older, it's more about compatibility than it is about love," Cox, 46, tells Harper's Bazaar. "I think it's more about needing just a kind of peace and stillness. I'm kind of all over the place, and I need grounding. I want to be calm. I want to change a lot. I want to live not outside but inside. It's nothing with David; it's just what I'm searching for."
So David isn't grounded? Or is he too outside-y?
Perhaps the 39-year-old is too juvenile? Cox says the age difference wasn't a problem, noting that guys are immature by default. So, has the Friends alum found a mature guy? Apparently not: She denies rumors she's dating her Cougar Town costar Brian Van Holt. "He's a really good friend of mine," she says.
Give Gwynnie a break
Tina Fey, late of Upper Darby, tells In Style Weekly she feels wounded every time gossipers or members of the great unwashed mock Gwyneth Paltrow.
"Any time you talk about being a working mother and you complain about it in any way, people eat your face," says Fey, who will headline the Philadelphia Book Festival next month. "I remember reading some interview where Gwyneth Paltrow said something like, 'I missed my kids on the set one day and I was crying.' And I thought, 'Yeah, I've totally done that'."
Fey, 40, says fans don't feel Gwyn's pain: "But on the website where I read it, there were these furious comments. 'But you're a movie star!' Yes, it's much worse for a mom serving in Afghanistan. Of course. But there's just no forgiveness."
Kirstie nude on dance floor?
Sometime TV star and diet product peddler Kirstie Alley is feeling serious butterflies now that she's less than a week away from her next gig: competing on Dancing With the Stars.
"[It] feels a little like that dream of being in highschool taking finals u forgot to study for....naked," Alley, 60, tweets.
Sound commentary from Em's child
Eminem is known for weaving some seriously nasty verbiage into his song lyrics - especially when he's rapping about his ex-wife and baby's mama, Kim Mathers.
But, it seems the couple's 15-year-old daughter, Hailie, doesn't share Slim Shady's sensibilities. She's a soulful gal, as recent tweets, collected by PopEater.com, attest. "People were created to be loved," Hailie writes in one. "Things were created to be used. Ironically, in reality, things are being loved & people are being used."
Sherri's prenuptial anxieties
The View cohost Sherri Shepherd is having a bit of a crisis planning her wedding to writer Lamar "Sal" Sally.
"I've got five months to go and I still haven't gotten my guest list together," Sherri told reporters during a phone confab. "I have five more spots and 52 people to invite. It is a nightmare."
Sherri says that's not her only obstacle.
"My fiance and I [want] to lose 30 pounds by the time we get married, which is August, which is very doable. It's five months," she says. "That's about almost 5 pounds a month, 7 pounds a month, which is really doable."
A happy, smiley breakup
No tears for Vanessa Hudgens, who says she's "a very joyous person" despite her breakup with that cold pretty-boy Zac Efron.
"We grew up together," Vanessa, 22, tells Shape mag of their four-year romance. "It was nice to have someone to share all of those experiences with."
Eva Longoria's post-matrimonial grief
"Every time I talk about it, I want to cry." So says Eva Longoria about her divorce from French NBA star Tony Parker, which was finalized in January.
"It's been hard. Very hard," Eva, 36, tells Allure mag. "I'm just trying to get through it as gracefully as possible."
Eva is not exactly beau-less - she's dating Penélope Cruz's baby bro, Eduardo Cruz.
But she still needs a shoulder to cry on, something her Desperate Housewives costars are happy to provide.

The Bono-scored, Julie Taymor-directed musical Spider-Man, which has been beset by enough delays and problems to sink half a dozen shows, is thriving. It has made more than $1 million a week in 2011 - and it's still in previews.
Mark Wahlberg, star of acclaimed boxing pic The Fighter, tells Entertainment Weekly he's pushing for a sequel.
Life & Style Weekly says Jersey Shore's Pauly D has landed a gig as the resident DJ at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
