Start your April with some fine art

Many art galleries in and around Philadelphia stay open later on the first Friday of the month. Here are some exhibits and activities happening tonight and throughout the month.

Many art galleries in and around Philadelphia stay open later on the first Friday of the month. Here are some exhibits and activities happening tonight and throughout the month.

The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts, Thursday through May 1, will feature many arts events, including a Gallery Night, 5-9 p.m. April 15, with more than 50 galleries participating. Find out more at pifa.org.

A Seed on Diamond Gallery. 124 W. Diamond St., 267-973-5242. "La Caja de la Memoria Viva (The Box of Living Memory)," multimedia exhibit by Brooklyn-based Puerto Rican artist Adrian "Viajero" Roman. Through April 9. Closing-day event, "Post Cards of our Barrios."

Arthur Ross Gallery. 220 S. 34th St., 215-898-2083. "Post-Mao Dreaming: Contemporary Chinese Art." Through Sunday. Lauren Greenfield's "Girl Culture," April 9-July 31. Artist talk, 5-7 p.m. April 15.

Exhibit is a tribute to the gallery's 20th anniversary and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society's 25th anniversary, in collaboration with PIFA. Reception, 5-8:30 tonight, 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
