Cave of Forgotten Dreams The prolific and occasionally profound Werner Herzog explores the Chauvet Caves in southern France, where 32,000-year-old paintings of galloping horses and woolly mammoths were discovered just a decade or so ago, revealing much about humankind and the nature of art and all sorts of things to wax Herzogian about. A hugely fascinating doc, even if the 3-D cameras have been rendered 2-D for its Philadelphia-area run. G

The Double Hour A sublimely tricky head-spinner of a thriller, set in Turin, Italy, where a beautiful Slovenian working as a hotel maid meets up with a mysterious ex-cop. The two leads, Ksenia Rappoport and Filippo Timi, nabbed the big acting prizes at the Venice Film Festival, and deservedly so. A great neo-noir. No MPAA rating

Fast Five Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, and the rest of the Fast and Furious gang head for Rio, where wild stunt driving and ridiculous rescue missions and bank jobs ensue. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the FBI guy who follows them to Brazil, and squares off against Diesel to see who has bigger biceps. PG-13
