Sideshow: Tawanna Iverson files for divorce - again

Allen Iverson's wife, Tawanna, has filed for divorce - again - from the former Sixers messiah, days after A.I., 36, announced he wanted to return to the NBA.

Filed in Fulton County, Ga., Superior Court, Tawanna's petition says the two have been separated for some time and describes their marriage as "irretrievably broken." That's the same term she used the first time she filed for divorce on March 2, 2010. She later withdrew that petition. Iverson's lawyer, Jonathan Levine, confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Tawanna had filed for divorce but declined further comment.

In court papers, Tawanna requests sole legal and physical custody of the couple's five children, as well as alimony and child support.

The Iversons met as teens at Bethel High School in Hampton, Va. They wed Aug. 3, 2001, a few months after A. I. and the Sixers lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals.

British authorities said Wednesday they were detaining two men for "conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to murder" in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate British singer Joss Stone. The men were arrested Monday near the warbler's home in Cullompton, southwest England.

Police say the unnamed men, aged 30 and 33, had this whole kidnap-'n'-kill kit on them. They allegedly had swords (whaaa?), rope, a body bag, maps, and aerial photos of Stone's secluded pad. The singer says she's "absolutely fine and getting on with life as normal."

Sean Penn, 50, who dumped Scarlett Johansson, 26, like, two minutes ago, has been spied dining with Haiti-born actress Garcelle Beauvais, 44, says E!Online. But E! can't decide: Was this a hot 'n' heavy, or was Sean, an advocate for Haiti relief work, simply consulting with a fellow activist?

Elizabeth Hurley's divorce from jet-setting business magnate Arun Nayar has been finalized, ABC News says. The couple wed in '07 in a civil ceremony in England, followed by a traditional Hindi wedding in India. Hurley is currently making time with Aussie cricketer Shane Warne

Variety says Russell Crowe, 47, will play Superman's biological father Jor-El in director Zack Snyder's Christopher Nolan-penned reworking of the Superman franchise, Man of Steel. Henry Cavill, the square-jawed, muscular beauty from The Tudors, will don the blue tights and red shorts. Marlon Brando played super-pops to Christopher Reeve in the '78 film.

Jennifer Lopez may not return to American Idol next season, reports the BBC. "I haven't been forced to make a decision, and I'm glad about that because I'm on the fence," she says. "I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which expanded the number of films nominated for best film from five to 10, now says the number of nominated films may be different each year, but there will always be between five and 10. It'll depend on how many films deserve the nod, the org says.

Lady Gaga's new album, Born This Way, which sold 1.1 mil in its first week, moved only 100,000 copies in its second week, slipping to No. 2 on the Billboard album charts. Adele, who had ruled the list before Her Gagaship butted in, is back on top, selling 114,000 of her CD 21, according to data from Nielsen SoundScan. Third place goes to the cast album for Tony Award-winning Broadway monster The Book of Mormon, which sold 61,000 units.
