What to do this week

ABUZZ ABOUT AZIZ If you caught Ruben Fleischer's "30 Minutes or Less" last weekend, you've been initiated into the cult of comedian Aziz Ansari. But for newbies, check out his turn in NBC's sitcom "Parks and Recreation" as playboy-wannabe Tom Haverford. (The new season starts Sept. 22; find previous seasons on Netflix Instant), or check his stand-up on DVDs such as "Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening."

DEAD, BUT STILL CLASSY

A ballerina. A sculptor. A maker of pyrotechnic devices. And all of them women whose accomplishments in life have been lost to history. But these gals had the good fortune to be buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery, which will offer a tour and talk about them in "From Classy Broads to Daring Dames: The Ladies of Laurel Hill," at 6 p.m. Thursday, 3822 Ridge Ave., $20, www.thelaurelhillcemetery.org.

BACK TO THE '50s ON BBC

The long wait for AMC's "Mad Men" stretches on, but fans can get their retro fix starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday on BBC America, with "The Hour," a new drama about post-World War II Britain, circa 1956, that's set in the early days of television but owes much to the movie "Broadcast News." Dominic West ("The Wire") gets to use his native accent as a sexy, lightweight news anchor, and Romola Garai ("One Day," "Atonement") is his Holly Hunter equivalent. Ben Whishaw is a reporter - think a much hotter Albert Brooks - who gets tangled up in murder.

SOLE FUSION

There's already a sophisticated vibe at Solefood in the Loews Philadelphia Hotel (1200 Market St., 215-627-1200). Upping the cool quotient is the free jazz series on Thursdays that this week features Grammy-nominated fusion keyboardist Jeff Lorber. Cocktails and conversation start at 5:30 p.m.; music's at 7:30. Up Sept. 15, R&B/jazz vocalist Maysa Leak.
