Sideshow: She's in! And . . . she's out!

In yet more proof criminal sentencing is far too harsh, Lindsay Lohan went to jail for her 30-day sentence - and was free after a few hours. Booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, she scrammed at 1:40 a.m. in a black Caddy Escalade SUV, and was kickin' back at her Venice Beach pad by 2 a.m. Why? Jail overcrowding. Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, who sentenced LiLo on Wednesday, had postponed her slammer time so the thesp could finish being nude for Playboy and collect her $1 mil. LiLo'd been sentenced for shirking her community service ordered for drunken driving and theft charges. It's her fifth jail stint since being arrested twice for DUI in 2007. And she still has to do the rest of her community service at the county morgue or face 270 more jail days!! Who, cares, right? Back to the movies!: She's playing Kim Gotti opposite John Travolta as John Gotti in Gotti: Three Generations.

Hugh and she and baby makes 3

Speaking of the impunity of celebrity figures - and we were - Hugh Grant, 51, that tousled-haired, stuttering, rather brill Brit, is now a father for the first admitted time. The whole thing's a little . . . odd. In fact, the SideShow Ick Meter is stuck on 12 (and it only goes to, like, 8). Hugh's rep released a statement saying Grant was "delighted" to have sired a daughter on short-time squeeze Tinglan Hong, 32, a U.K. resident from China, who gave birth on Sept. 26. Yippee! cries Hugh! The rep called their early 2011 thing "fleeting" and the pregnancy "unplanned." Not present at the birth, delighted Hugh did visit baby (name not released) for about 45 mins Nov. 3, saying he wanted to "protect" it, although protection hasn't always been on his mind, evidently. It was only a brief hullo on a break from movie work in Germany. Hugh swears to stay involved. He's even set Hong and baby up in a $1.88 mil flat in Fulham about a mile from his own posh crib. (The flat was bought in July by Flora Hood, a Grant cousin, who won't say whether she bought it for this express purpose.) Hugh moves on! He's now dating German burlesque dancer Elisa Schmidt, 21. Busy Hugh! Meantime, rumors zing that the impossibly fascinating Elizabeth Hurley, still close to Hugh though his spectacular infidelities trashed their love as of 2000, has visited baby and is in the running for godmother. Everybody loves the baby!!!

Biebs to take DNA test

While Hugh Grant is 'fessing up, Justin Bieber is fighting back. The cute-as-a-puppy teen idol is ready to take a paternity test to prove it was not he who got Mariah Yeater with child, reports People mag on its website. Biebs has vehemently denied Yeater's claim she and he had sexual congress in the backstage bathroom at the Staples Center, not only ending Bieber's days as a virgin but also enrolling him in the Hugh Grant Fathers' Fraternity. Anon Source tells People that young Justin will take the test when he returns from Europe next week. The Bieber camp is breathing threats of legal retribution against Yeater. "It's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims," a Bieb rep told People in a statement. "We'll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions."

Yeater, 20, who delivered a baby boy in July, appears unfazed by the prospect of using the 17-year-old singer's genetic blueprint to test the truth of her claim. Her lawyers, Lance Rogers and Matt Pare, tell celeb news website TMZ.com: "We are encouraged that Justin Bieber will voluntarily take the paternity test. That is the only way to definitively determine who the father is." They add, "The paternity suit was filed in good faith and it will continue despite the threats."

Critical funding need

Movie critic Roger Ebert is looking for some dough to keep Ebert Presents: At the Movies on the air. The show, a successor to Ebert's programs Sneak Previews, At the Movies With Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, and At the Movies, will be canceled if he can't come up with the money. Ebert and wife Chaz have been bankrolling the show themselves after Kanbar Charitible Trust gave a $25,000 donation. The program has been airing since January, hosted by Associated Press reviewer Christy Lemire and Mubi.com film critic Ignatiy Vishnevetsky.

Are *you* investin' wit **me**????

Robert De Niro, who in his long and varied career has played everyone from Robert De Niro to Robert De Niro, has agreed to play Bernie Madoff in an HBO film based on the book Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family, by Laurie Sandell. The non-filmic BM is now serving a 150-year prison sentence for his $50 billion financial fraud. Maybe he should consult Lindsay Lohan about judge selection.

Oh, wait a minute . . .

Is there a second act in store for Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries?

After a marriage that ended in less time than it takes a bridal bouquet to wilt, reality show star Kardashian, 31, and NBA potential star Humphries, 26, met with the minister who married them, Joel Johnson, for four hours on Sunday to explore the possibility of a reconciliation, say busy Anon Sources. It's all "up in the air," they tell TMZ. The sources describe Kris as "ecstatic" that Kim assented to the meeting in Minnesota. Humphries thinks they can make a go of it. She's not sure, but is ready to keep talking, say the sources. After the session, Kim returned to L.A. She and Kris were wed Aug. 20, but filed for divorce on Oct. 31 - only 72 days later.

Sick bay

Grammy-winning British singer Adele, 23, has had throat surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp, the Associated Press reports. The condition had forced her to cancel an American tour that was to have begun Oct. 7 at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City.

A Mass General spokesman said the operation was performed by surgeon Steven Zeitels, adding that the singer was expected to make a full recovery from the laser microsurgery.
