For ‘Top Chef,’ ‘Life’ goes on

BRAVO CAMERASrolled Monday taping Jennifer Carroll for "Life After Top Chef" as she cooked for family and friends at Meme (22nd & Spruce).

Meme chef David Katz let his friend take over his kitchen for a preview tasting of her menu from Concrete Blonde, a restaurant that she is planning to open despite as yet having no location for it. Jon Gosselin, former "Jon & Kate Plus 8" star turned self-described computer geek, and his girlfriend, were among guests. Gosselin and Carroll share an attorney, Chris Cabott, who invited the Berks County baby-daddy.

Rouge owner Rob Wasserman, Table 31 partners Tamar and Steve Olitsky, PR and marketing pro Nicole Cashman and DJ/611 Lifestyle owner Nigel Richards were also among the crowd of about 40 people.

"Top Chef" alum Spike Mendelsohn, who is also part of "Life After Top Chef," ate dinner and also helped Carroll cook for a bit.

Speaking of Bravo . . .

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" table-flipper Teresa Giudice will appear at Parx Casino in Bensalem for a Mother's Day-themed event May 11. Giudice, now seen on "Celebrity Apprentice," will be joined by her mother when she leads a cooking demonstration at the 360 club making recipes from her book Fabulicious. She'll meet and greet fans starting at 5 p.m.

Charitably minded

St. Joseph's men's basketball coach Phil Martelli hosts the 3rd annual Martelli Games from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dave & Buster's Plymouth Meeting.

The corporate team-building competition is a benefit for the Developmental Enterprises Corporation.

Participants include Martelli's fellow coaches Bruiser Flint, of Drexel; John Giannini, of La Salle; Penn's Jerome Allen; Delaware's Monte Ross; Temple assistant coach Dave Duke; and Baker Dunleavy, assistant coach at Villanova. 94WIP's Rhea Hughes and 97.5 The Fanatic's Joe DeCamara will also take part, along with 1210 WPHT's Rick Grimaldi.

Good luck to NBC10 meteorologist Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz, who undergoes double-bypass surgery Wednesday morning. "99% of major artery blocked. Will be out a long time but will tweet some," Schwartz tweeted late Tuesday night.

Tribute to Levon Helm

In honor of Levon Helm, The Band's drummer who died last week of cancer, mrCharlie will perform a mini-set of The Band's songs, primarily ones on which Helm sang lead, for the group's Saturday show at the Tin Angel (20 S. 2nd).

mrCharlie's lead singer/guitarist Lloyd Bashkin points out the area's connection to The Band. It was the old Tony Mart's nightclub in Somers Point, where Bob Dylan discovered and recruited Levon and The Hawks in 1965 as his backup band. The group eventually became The Band.
