The evening, including a silent auction, bookmark-signing and dessert reception, benefits Spells Writing Lab, a nonprofit that works to develop the writing skills of school-age children in the region. Bissinger is the author of nonfiction books, including Friday Night Lights. He’s a columnist at the Daily Beast website and writes occasionally for the Daily News and the Inquirer.
