Negative tweet gets fan booted from Philly ‘nerd’ rap show

It might be the first live booting of a social networker during a live musical performance.

Various social networking, news aggregator, and gamer sites are atwitter about a fan who was kicked out of a show at Union Transfer in Philadelphia by the 'nerdcore' rapper MC Chris after sending a tweet that criticized one of the acts.

It started when fan Mike Taylor of Voorhees, Camden County, was at the MC Chris Monster Hunter tour show Tuesday night. He tweeted that he thought the opening act, Richie Branson, was sub-par.

"Dear nerd rapper opening for Powerglove/mc chris," Taylor wrote in the tweet. "You're not good enough to pander to me. Better luck next time."

MC Chris was monitoring tweets at the time and grew furious.

Taylor told the rest of the story through a posting on a gamer website.

After he tweeted, Taylor said he walked to the lobby for a soda, and was sitting down when suddenly he heard the crowd going, "nuts."

MC Chris had come on stage and asked for Taylor's real name. Taylor had tweeted under the name 'AdmiralMikey.'

"My friend and I looked at each other confused and heard him ask for it again. I got up, walked back onto the floor and raised my hand."

MC Chris pointed to him and told him security was going to usher him out, for, "for talking s--- on Twitter!"

Taylor says he's been a fan of MC Chris since 2004, and could understand his wrath.

"However, publicly kicking out a long-time paying fan because they tweeted a negative response about the opener of your show? Are you serious?" Taylor wrote on the gamer website.

For his part, MC Chris, whose real name is Christopher Ward, apologized in a YouTube video, asking forgiveness from fans.

"I've had a horrible day today," Ward said in his apology. "And I'm sure someone else had a bad day today too, because they didn't get to see the show last night, or the bands they wanted to see, because I kicked them out of the venue."
