Laurie Berkner Band at Keswick Theatre
The Laurie Berkner Band brings its kindie rock to the Keswick Theatre on Saturday morning.
Berkner, a New Jersey native, is described by People Magazine as "the queen of children's music." The band's music videos appear on Nick Jr.; they've been on the Today show and have made CDs and DVDs. The group will hit the stage, and get adults singing too, at 11 a.m.
Celebrate Horace Pippin
On Sunday, kids can celebrate artist Horace Pippin during a read-aloud workshop, art activity, and book signing at the Brandywine River Museum.
Local author Jen Bryant will read her new picture book illustrated by Melissa Sweet, A Splash of Red: The Life and Art of Horace Pippin. After the reading check out the artist's paintings in the museum and kids can channel their inner Pippin making pictures with the color red. Bryant will also sign copies of the book from noon to 1 p.m. and hold a discussion from 1 to 2.
