Celebrate Phila.'s sister cities

A daylong festival crosses cultural lines with music, food, dancing, hands-on activities.

Immerse yourself in different cultures on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and celebrate Philadelphia's 10 Sister Cities at the Sister Cities Park International Festival. Event festivities include dancing, music, cooking demos, and hands-on activities.

There will be cultural activities and performances throughout the day. The Italian Council's Luigi Scotto will sing, the Guang Hua Chinese School troupe will dance, and Taiko drummers will enrich with a Japanese percussion show. Guests can even get a French language lesson at 3:05 p.m. Other activities include a Cameroonian fashion show and Israeli, Polish and Korean dance performances. French and Italian chefs from local restaurants will give cooking demonstrations.

Philadelphia's 10 Sister Cities are Douala, Cameroon; Tianjin, China; Aix en Provence, France; Tel Aviv, Israel; Abruzzo, Italy; Florence, Italy; Kobe, Japan; Torun, Poland; Nizhny Novgorod, Russia; and Incheon, South Korea.

Elmwood Park Zoo Season Kickoff Carnival

Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown continues its summer opening celebration with a Season Kickoff Carnival through Sunday.

During the day, you can enjoy the zoo and check out the animal residents. In the evening, the zoo parking lot will be transformed into a full-scale carnival, with games, rides, and food for kids and adults to enjoy. The rest of the carnival can also be enjoyed during the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Imagination Movers

On Saturday and Sunday families can rock out as Disney Junior network's Imagination Movers returns to Sesame Place, performing its high-energy concert.

The Emmy-winning band, composed of Rich Collins, Scott Durban, Dave Poche, and Scott "Smitty" Smith, will perform songs from their latest CD Rock-O-Matic. The band has appeared on The View and Good Morning America.
