KIM'S 5 TIPS OF THE WEEK: BOOSTING GIRLS' SELF-ESTEEM

1DAD IS KEY A strong bond with dad or a father figure is a must for healthy development. If dad says you're smart, you are. If he tells you you're cute, you believe. Without a dad's positive influence, girls often feel like damaged goods, which may set them up for a lifetime of poor choices.

1DAD IS KEY

A strong bond with dad or a father figure is a must for healthy development. If dad says you're smart, you are. If he tells you you're cute, you believe. Without a dad's positive influence, girls often feel like damaged goods, which may set them up for a lifetime of poor choices.

2MOMS MATTER, TOO

Like it or not, you are your daughter's role model. Not only does she love you, she wants to be just like you. So don't criticize your own appearance. And don't criticize other women who don't share your beauty values.

3BE A MEDIA

WATCHDOG

Especially television, videos and fashion magazines. Don't compare yourself with photoshopped images of stylized models and celebrities. Remember that ads are designed to make you want a product. Don't fall for it!

4STAY ACTIVE

Most physical activities benefit the body and the mind. Try yoga, swimming, rock climbing, bicycling or just an old-fashioned walk. It's all good!

5KEEP IT REAL

Inspire yourself with real women's stories, women who have led inspiring lives. Send me an email for a list of books about or by truly amazing women.
