KID FUN Actor Chazz Palminteri headlines the 59th annual show Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., outside the Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St. There will be daredevil demonstrations by the Highway Patrol Motorcycle Drill Team and performances by the K-9 Unit, the Strike Force Bicycle Stunt Team, and the Philadelphia Police & Fire Pipes and Drums, displays of crime fighting equipment, mixed martial arts demonstrations, and an old-fashioned carnival midway with amusements, games, dunk tanks, and face-painting for the kids. Proceeds benefit the post-high school education of survivors of deceased police officers and firefighters.
Pet Shop Boys
MUSIC These are busy times for Pet Shop Boys, the tandem of singer-lyricist Neil Tennant and keyboard player Chris Lowe, who are the biggest-selling pop duo in British music history. The latest Pet Shop Boys traveling theatrical spectacular, the Electric tour, will bring the band to the Mann Center in Fairmount Park on Sunday.
Tennant says the tour, in keeping with its name, will feature "a lot of lights, film, strobes, and lasers."
