Singer Chris Brown, 24, was arrested early Sunday in Washington after a fight broke out near the W Hotel, police said, complicating the Grammy-winning R&B artist's already snarled legal history. He was charged with felony assault in an incident that began just before 4:30 a.m. Bodyguard Chris Hollosy, 35, was arrested on the same charges; both were being held in police custody until Monday. An unidentified injured man was taken to a hospital, then released. The felony charges were based in part on the extent of his injuries, police said.

Brown remains on probation for the 2009 beating of his on-again, off-again girlfriend Rihanna just before the Grammy Awards. He has been involved in many incidents since.

'Grandpa' over 'Gravity'

Johnny Knoxville's Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa took first place with $32 million at the weekend box office. It toppled the Sandra Bullock space thriller Gravity, which had led for three weeks but fell to second with $20.3 million.

Captain Phillips, the Somali-pirate shipping drama starring Tom Hanks, generated $11.8 million and dropped to third. The Counselor, a violent action thriller starring Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt, opened fourth with $8 million.
