Mummers preview today

Catch Fancy Brigade dress rehearsals and behind-the-scenes float-building - and try on costumes and practice your Mummers strut - at the Pennsylvania Convention Center's MummersFest, 12th and Arch streets, noon-6 p.m. today, $5 (kids under 4 free), phlvisitorcenter.com.

Parade pit stop tomorrow

Tomorrow, take a break from Broad Street and warm up at the Kimmel Center's ground-floor Commonwealth Plaza. Free activities include face painting, balloon sculpting and crafts. Look for the hot-chocolate bar, and performances by Steve Pullara and the Cool Beans Band (11 a.m.), the singing and uke-playing Ukuladies (12:30 p.m.), hits-staging Broadway Dreams Foundation (2 p.m.) and Camden's own Sophisticated Sisters Drill Team (4 p.m.).

Or, pay $35 per grown-up ($20 per child) to enjoy the panoramic view of Broad Street from the Kimmel's balcony and second floor, where VIP guests enjoy all-you-can-eat buffet by chef Jose Garces and an open bar, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. ($20 for non-drinkers.)
