1 BODY-FAT PERCENTAGE: New Standards
The new standards take age into consideration:
MALE :
AGE 17-26: 18 percent
AGE 27-39: 19 percent
AGE 40-45: 20 percent
AGE 46+: 21 percent
FEMALE
AGE 17-26: 26 percent
AGE 27-39: 27 percent
AGE 40-45: 28 percent
AGE 46+: 29 percent
2 HEIGHT/WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Recommended maximum weight for a 70-inch male (5'10") is 192 pounds (60 pounds more than the minimum weight.) Maximum weight for a 64-inch female (5'4") depends on age: 16-20, 138 pounds; 21-24, 141 pounds; 25-30, 145 pounds; 31-35, 150 pounds.
3 3-MILE RUN
A few good early twenty-something males should aspire to run 3 miles in 28 minutes, and women of the same age should aspire to run the 3 miles in 31 minutes.
4 PULL-UPS
Minimum requirement is 3 pull-ups for males/females. Women who are not quite there yet can go for the flexed-arm hang for 15 seconds.
