Dad Vail Regatta

They gotta you-know-what. We get to watch - both the swift collegiate boats and their geared-out fans repping schools near and far.

Race for the Cure

Susan G. Komen's annual Mother's Day 5K paints the town pink to raise money for breast-cancer research, with a full slate of early-bird entertainment from 8-9:30 a.m. by the Jane Lopoten School of Dance (in photo at right), Enon Tabernacle's Trinity Drum Line and others. Last-minute entrants can sign up and line up for the 5K until 8 a.m. on race day.

Eakins Oval, 7 a.m.-noon Sunday (race starts at 8:15 a.m.), free for spectators, $15-$40 to participate, komenphiladelphia.org/race.

Rock radio festivals

Two Philly stations pump up their base with the season's first big indoor/outdoor shed shows on back-to-back days in Camden.

* MMR goes first, on Saturday, with a heavy-hitting MMR*B*Q lineup: Rob Zombie, Volbeat, Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience, Dropkick Murphys, others.

* Sunday, the Radio 104.5 Birthday Show plays to the station's poppier and alt-rock strengths with Foster the People, Third Eye Blind, Bastille, Cage the Elephant, more.

Art Star Craft Bazaar

Buy crafts. Hear bands. Make craft-flowers (photo below) for mom with help from Philly paper-craft goddess Kayte Terry. This year's bazaar brings in 126 vendors, 10 bands, eight "make-and-take" craft demos, oodles of fun.

Morey's Piers

Moms ride free Mother's Day afternoon at Mariner's and Surfside Piers in Wildwood, with free tea and cookies for the whole brood near the Mariner's Tea Cup attraction, post-ride tummies permitting.

Pennsylvania Ballet

This 50th-anniversary season, the ballet's spring show, "Director's Choice," collects three works connected to the company, including its premiere of former artistic director Robert Weiss' "Grieg: Piano Concerto."

Boz Scaggs

Lately working his biggest hits as one-third of the Dukes of September, this blue-eyed soul-rock legend has lots more goodies to share than just "Silk Degrees" material - like his take on standards ("Skylark") and blasts of his blues-rocking youth ("Loan Me a Dime").
