Sideshow: Aaliyah biopic: Twitter holds its nose

Fans and music insiders alike had a blast this weekend mocking Lifetime's biopic Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B, which featured Alexandra Shipp as the late singer.

Social media exploded with: "#Lifetime Disrespects Aaliyah" and "#LifetimeBeLike."

Missy Elliott and Timbaland, who coproduced Aaliyah's work, led the charge. "Hope yall not watching this!!!!!!!!" Timbaland said on Instagram.

The movie's exec producer Wendy Williams is ecstatic that the world's talking about the picture, if only to abuse it.

"I see my Aaliyah movie broke the Internet this weekend!" the talk-show diva said Monday. The movie drew 3.2 mil viewers Saturday night.

Why wasn't U2 on The Tonight Show Monday night as promised? The Irish megaband, which was to be the show's house band for the week, had to cancel on host Jimmy Fallon after Bono hurt his arm in a cycling accident in New York.

Bono "requires some surgery," the band says. "We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back!"

Dumb and Dumber To, the follow-up to the Farrelly Brothers' 1994 masterpiece, led at the box office this weekend, making $38.1 mil, according to studio guesstimates. Big Hero 6 dropped to No. 2 with $36 mil, while Interstellar was at No. 3 with $29.2. Christopher Nolan's space epic has made more than $320 mil worldwide.

Illness also has rocked One Direction's world: Zayn Malik wasn't with the band when they played in Orlando Monday morning - it was telecast on NBC's Today. Rumors are that Malik, 21, has had substance- abuse issues. Matt Lauer said as much to the boy-band's remaining four members.

"No, he's just got a stomach bug," said Liam Payne.

We're not sure if beleaguered Honey Boo Boo star June Shannon thinks her recent interview with Entertainment Tonight will rehabilitate her image. The highlights: She says she had her first sexual encounter at 12; had her first child at 14; and has dated two convicted sex offenders.
