The Philly Coaches Party for a Cause held its 12th annual Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBall Gala on April 18 at the Hilton on Penn's Landing. More than 420 attendees showed their support, along with coaches, of course, including St. Joe's Phil Martelli, Villanova's Jay Wright, Temple's Fran Dunphy, Penn's Steve Donahue, Drexel's James Flint, La Salle's John Giannini, and their wives. Phillies chairman David Montgomery was the BasketBall 2015 honoree. Also in the house were event cochairs Ed Rendell and Citizens Bank president Dan Fitzpatrick. Fine food and drink, unique live and silent-auction items, and live music were all part of the evening. In the end, everyone was a winner. All six Philadelphia basketball coaches have raised close to $11 million since 1996 and no doubt added substantially to the tally for the American Cancer Society's fight to save lives and support research to battle cancer.
