On Jan. 3, Mothers' Home celebrated its 25th anniversary as a shelter for pregnant young women and their newborns who are in need of a home.

The event for the shelter, a nonprofit in Darby, was held at Ivy Hall, a historic mansion in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia.

George Isajiw and his wife, Patricia, who started the shelter out of their own home, were honored at the event. More than 120 people gathered for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and live music, as well as a moving tribute to the founders of Mothers' Home.

With the donations and raffle proceeds from the event, Mothers' Home hopes to renovate its kitchen, which serves as a hub and gathering place for the women staying at the shelter.
