Happy birthday, Flyers

The Broad Street Bullies are celebrating a half century of existence this year with a commemorative jersey that has a bit of extra flair. The traditional orange, white, and black are still present, but the jersey has some snazzy gold accents for that extra oomph.

According to the organization, Flyers owner Ed Snider approved the new look before his death earlier this year.

Some teams that do commemorative anniversary jerseys opt for a throwback look, but the Flyers jerseys haven't changed all that much since the hockey team was founded in 1967. Hence, the added gold to celebrate the team's golden anniversary. There's something to be said for consistency.
