PA husband and wife die hours apart after 65 years of marriage

LaVerne and Robert Werner were both born in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania in the 1920s. On Tuesday, LaVerne Werner died, probably after a series of mini strokes. Hours later, Robert—her husband of 65 years—also passed away. Their son Barry says that his father suffered from Alzheimer's disease and that his parents had moved into a personal-care home about four months ago. Barry Werner says that, despite his father's mental state, the WWII veteran was able to discern that something was wrong after LaVerne had passed. [Tribune-Democrat]
