The American Heart Association hosted the 58th annual Heart of Philadelphia Ball on Feb. 7 at the Marriott Downtown. About 800 area philanthropists, corporate and community leaders, and medical professionals came together to show their support in the fight against cardiovascular disease. Guests were treated to several food stations with savory hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, and enjoyed a silent and live auction. This year's awards went to 2015 Heart of Philadelphia honoree Jerry Maginnis of KPMG, and 2015 Edward Cooper MD honoree Dr. Peter Kowey. Continuing the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association was at the heart of the matter. The $1.6 million raised is for continued funding of research education for new discoveries to protect against heart disease and stroke.
