S

USAN SARANDON

was on "The View" this week and the co-hosts mentioned longtime beau

Tim Robbins

and put up a picture of her with Robbins, talked about the holiday season, questioned two of Susan's sisters who were in the audience and nobody said the key fact.

Sarandon and Robbins had split after 23 years.

Over the summer.

How does that stay secret for four months while every Khloe Kardashian contraction lands on the cover of a gossip mag?

If Susan turns out to be one of Tiger Woods' mistresses, every man on the Daily News copy desk is going to be very upset.

They're already talking about jumping - we mean, waiting in line for - her "Lovely Bones."

Why the couple broke up is unclear and since they were able to keep the break-up itself a secret, more power to them.

Just goes to show that if you want to keep your private life private, it's possible.

(Note to Susan: Tattle plays ping pong.)

She'll understand.

Tattbits

* TMZ.com reports that DVD-

rentalkiosk company redbox is scrambling to remove promotional posters of Brittany Murphy's movie "Deadline."

In the poster, the actress is seen lifeless in a bathtub. Before Brittany died this week, her mother found her passed out in the shower.

* Simon Cowell's brother, Tony, says the next season of "American Idol" will be Simon's last.

Tony said on his Saturday podcast, "The Cowell Factor," that a statement was being prepared that would certify that cranky Simon was leaving the Fox juggernaut at the end of 2010.

Simon will concentrate on bringing his popular U.K. talent show "The X Factor" to the U.S. next year.

Tattle is confused. "X Factor" was originally Britain's "Pop Idol," which was the inspiration for "American Idol." So "X Factor" already exists here - it's called "American Idol."

But if Cowell will bring "X Factor" judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue with him, he can call it whatever he wants.

* Miranda Sevcik, a spokes-

woman for Dr. Conrad Murray, has confirmed that a British documentary crew has chronicled the embattled Michael Jackson doctor's return to work.

Sevcik says Murray agreed to be filmed, but only if the footage didn't air until after all his legal proceedings were complete.

Hence the film will never air.

* Amy Winehouse was

charged Wednesday in England in connection with an assault at Milton Keynes Theater.

Police did not provide details, but British media have reported that Amy allegedly struggled with a member of the staff after heckling at a performance.

Nice to see she's keeping it together.

* Speaking of rehab, billboard.-com reports Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler has entered rehab to deal with an addiction to prescription painkillers and a lesser addiction to quit Aerosmith.

In a statement, Tyler said that, "With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my band mates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford. I love Aerosmith; I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith. I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of."

* A British court has blocked an

attempt by former Culture Club singer Boy George to appear on the reality-TV show, "Celebrity Big Brother."

Boy George is on probation for assaulting a male escort.

Wow, if that can keep you off reality TV, where will they get the contestants?

* Devar Hurd was convicted Tuesday of harassing Ashanti's mother with a flurry of dirty photos and lewd text messages about the R&B star.

Hurd, a would-be rapper, sometime model and car salesman, said he thought the crude messages, photos of his genitals and a picture of the home where Ashanti's family lives were welcome.

After seeing Hurd's pics and hearing his excuse, the jury had to acknowledge the guy had balls.

* Atlanta rapper T.I. (aka Clifford

Harris) has been released from a federal prison in Arkansas and is at a halfway house in Georgia.

T.I. was expected to report to Dismas Charities halfway house in Atlanta Tuesday night. He will be there for up to three months.

Merry Dismas, T.I.

And Merry Christmas to you.
