Tattle: Robert Pattinson confesses to an 'allergy'
ONCE AGAIN we come to that creepy crossroad of celebrity gossip, forcing us to rethink everything we know about a certain star and our role in the making and unmaking of his carefully cultivated image.
ONCE AGAIN we come to that creepy crossroad of celebrity gossip, forcing us to rethink everything we know about a certain star and our role in the making and unmaking of his carefully cultivated image.
Since "Twilight" went into production, the tabs and mags have offered up one story after another about stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
They're together. They're not together. They're madly in love. It's over between them. They're just friends. They're actual vampires. Who can keep track?
Now Pattinson tells Details magazine that he's not exactly enamored with female parts - this realization hitting him after a lengthy photo shoot surrounded by naked women - and the questioning instantly starts: Is he gay?
Maybe. But more importantly, he's a promotional publicity whore. It's his job.
Pattinson told Details, "I really hate vaginas. I'm allergic to vagina."
Gee, most men would enjoy hanging around nude models all day. Pattinson, however, was pleased that his shoot wasn't too graphic.
"If you look at porn in, like, the eighties, there was something kind of quaint about it, quite sweet - like this little naked community," he said.
"The people who made it liked it, they had respect for it. Not remotely like the porn that's available now . . . It's just everything, everywhere."
Much like Pattinson himself, who has already figured out that the way to stay in the news is to talk about vaginas.
Local jazzman leaving 'Tonight'?
Jay Leno's bandleader, Kevin Eubanks, a Philadelphia native, will be returning with Jay when he returns to the "Tonight" show March 1, but he probably won't be staying long.
Lisa Stanley, co-host of K-EARTH 101's "Gary Bryan in the Morning" in L.A., broke the news yesterday that the well-known jazz guitarist wants to return to touring and recording after 18 years with Jay.
Leno and NBC are trying to lure former Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker, now a country singer, to take Eubanks' place, according to Stanley.
Stanley also divulged that Conan O' Brien is personally leasing his briefly used "Tonight Show" soundstage on the Universal backlot because he's confident he will be hosting again for someone - anyone? - very soon.
Fox is still interested in bringing Conan over but affiliates are balking, claiming they make more with "Simp- sons" reruns.
Talks have reportedly also begun with ABC, which can't make Jimmy Kimmel feel all that safe.
Unless Conan would take over "Nightline."

* A dog collar that belonged
to Charles Dickens - but was actually worn by Dickens' dog as there is no evidence that Dickens was into any kinky stuff (despite the saying "What the Dickens?!") - was auctioned off yesterday at Bonhams New York's sale of dog art.
That would be art having to do with dogs, not made by dogs. No Pekinese Picasso here.
The dog collar fetched $11,590, nearly twice what was expected.
Yes, your retirement fund is worth 20 percent less than it was a few years ago, but an old dog collar is worth double.
* Abbey Road, the iconic London
recording studios, has been put on the market by EMI, according to the Financial Times.
EMI bought the property in 1929 and converted it into recording studios. Artists who made music there included Sir Edward Elgar and Pink Floyd.
And, of course, the Beatles.
The studio is too expensive for many artists today, who need neither studios nor instruments to record, but its size allows it to accommodate orchestras.
Tattle suggests a group of rich British music folk get together to purchase and preserve it.
Before it's turned into a parking garage.
* Lady Gaga swept the U.K.'s Brit
Awards yesterday, winning three categories and offering an emotional tribute to Alexander McQueen, the British fashion designer who committed suicide last week.
* Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Vil-
laraigosa will have a cameo on "All My Children" today. ABC says the mayor, playing himself, will meet Susan Lucci's character, Erica Kane, at a hot spot.
Villaraigosa filmed the scene last month to welcome the show, which moved production from NYC to L.A.
* A rep for Chynna Phillips has confirmed that the Wilson Phillips singer has entered a treatment facility for anxiety.
Chynna is married to actor William Baldwin and has three children. She's also the daughter of the late Mamas and the Papas founder John Phillips, half-sister of Mackenzie Phillips and sister-in-law of Alec Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin.
* Hard to believe, but
"That Girl" is 72 and Marlo Thomas is working on "Growing Up Laughing," a memoir about her childhood and the "star entertainer friends" of her father, comedian Danny Thomas," Hyperion announced yesterday. The book comes out in September and also will feature childhood memories from Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart and other contemporary comedians.
In a statement issued by Hyperion, Marlo says her own experiences made her want to learn how "the seeds of humor got planted" for other entertainers.
* Tori Spelling is also writing a
book . . . for children. "Presenting . . . Tallulah," the "sweet tale of a young girl who really just wants to be herself," comes out in September, publisher Aladdin said yesterday. A third adult release, tentatively titled "uncharted terriTORI," is scheduled for June.
* Nicole Richie is engaged to long-
time boyfriend Joel Madden. She confirmed that Monday on the "Late Show With David Letterman." With no competition on NBC, Dave's breaking all the big news.
