Tattle: Sandy knocks the wind out of show biz

WARNER BROS. Television and CBS TV Studios on Sunday suspended production on their New York-based TV series, and Warner Bros. stopped work on the film "Winter's Tale" in the city as the East Coast hunkered down for the arrival of Sandy.
WB's affected shows are "666 Park Avenue," "The Carrie Diaries," "The Following," "Golden Boy," "Gossip Girl" and "Person of Interest," and the pilot "The Secret Lives of Wives," the Deadline Hollywood website reported.
The affected CBS TV Studios series are "The Good Wife," "Blue Bloods" and "Elementary." The Sunday and Monday evening performances of Broadway shows also were canceled.
Here in Philly, production of NBC's "Do No Harm" was shut down Monday.
All that Glitters . . .
Police investigating child sex-abuse allegations against the late BBC-TV host Jimmy Savile arrested former glam-rock star and convicted sex offender Gary Glitter Sunday, raising questions of whether Savile was at the center of a broader pedophile ring.
Police would not identify the suspect, but media outlets confirmed it was the 68-year-old Glitter.
He was released later Sunday and is to return to a London police station in December for further questioning, police said.
The musician, real name Paul Gadd, made it big with the hit "Rock & Roll (Part 2)."
He fell into disgrace after being convicted on child-abuse charges in Vietnam.
Sunday's arrest was the first in a widening scandal over Savile's alleged sex crimes, which started receiving attention when several women claimed in a TV documentary that aired earlier this month that Savile abused them when they were teenagers.
Hundreds of potential victims have since come forward with claims against the much-loved children's TV presenter and disc jockey, who died at 84 last year.
The UK Mirror reported this weekend that Savile's vacation home in the Scottish Highlands had been attacked by vandals, who wrote "Beast" and other slogans on the structure.
A 'Boo' state
Madonna drew boos and triggered a walkout by several concertgoers after she touted President Obama on her "MDNA Tour" in New Orleans Saturday.
She asked the audience if they'd registered to vote, then added, "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama."
Responding to the boos, she continued, "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for. . . . Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote."
'Argo' gets going
Three weeks after opening, the Ben Affleck thriller "Argo," inspired by the rescue of six U.S. embassy workers during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis, found its way to the top of the box office. Affleck stars in and directed the flick.
Stepping into the No. 2 spot was the animated family comedy "Hotel Transylvania," which opened in September.
Debuting at No. 3 was the three-hour epic "Cloud Atlas," featuring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant in multiple roles.
The three-hour epic cost more than $100 million to make but netted only $9.4 million in its opening weekend.
Shooter uncovered
French police have been given the name of the bad-boy photographer who made those images of Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, while the pair were vacationing in Provence, the U.K. Mirror reports.
Pictures of the duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless were published in Closer magazine, but the royal family claimed that they had been taken on private property and they filed a criminal complaint in Paris.
Authorities wouldn't identify the photographer but promised to investigate.
Idol time
A Seattle man says that having Billy Idol play his 26th birthday party made for the greatest night of his life.
No, that's not a typo - Michael Henrichsen is 26, which means he wasn't even born when Idol's "Rebel Yell" debuted in 1983. But dude's in an '80s cover band, so maybe that explains it.
Idol says Henrichsen's request stood out because he'd raised money for local charities at "Billy Idol Aid" events.
Puts the oh! in Aloha
