Tattle: Lady Gaga donates $1 million to American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts

LADY GAGA is opening her wallet to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The native New Yorker announced on her website that she will donate $1 million to the American Red Cross.

LADY GAGA is opening her wallet to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy. The native New Yorker announced on her website that she will donate $1 million to the American Red Cross.

Gaga said that she was giving because of the destruction Sandy caused in NYC: "New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion."

Other celebs also have given to Sandy relief efforts, such as Barbara Walters, who donated $250,000.

*  "Sesame Street" will air a Hurricane Sandy-themed episode Friday called "Sesame Street Gets Through a Storm."

After a storm hits everyone's fave street, Big Bird returns to find that his nest has been destroyed. Good thing he has lots of buddies to help him cope.

The very special episode airs at 10 a.m. on WHYY. With President Obama's recent victory, at least Big Bird doesn't have to worry about funding while he rebuilds.

*  Maybe all of Broadway should gather around to watch that "Sesame Street" episode. The Broadway League, the national trade association for the Broadway industry, released a report that said Sandy, which darkened theaters for four days, caused shows to lose $8.5 million from the previous week.

The Matthew Broderick musical "Nice Work If You Can Get It" was hit particularly hard, losing $538,853.

"It will come back to its former life, there's no question about it. Broadway is New York and everyone celebrates the theater in this city," Barry Weissler, who has been producing work on Broadway since 1982, told the Associated Press.

"It's catch-up time."

'Bachelorette' bling

Penn dental-school grad and former "Bachelorette" Ashley Hebert was spotted with fiancé J.P. Rosenbaum scoping wedding bands for their impending nuptials.

The rings came from Neil Lane in L.A. Why the N.J.-based couple went to the Left Coast to pick out rings is anyone's guess, but whatever makes them happy, right?

A source told Us Magazine that the couple "walked in holding hands and smiling." They were filmed picking out their rings for a special on their wedding, scheduled for next month.

'Family' scare

Ariel Winter, the 14-year-old actress who plays Dunphy middle child Alex on the hit ABC show "Modern Family," has been removed from her home by a California judge after her mother, Crystal Workman, was accused of physical and emotionally abusing the actress.

The judge last month placed Winter with her older sister, Shanelle Workman, and ordered Crystal to stay 100 yards away from her younger daughter.

TMZ.com reports that Crystal has been accused of abuse before. As a child, Shanelle was removed from her mom's custody by the Department of Children and Family Services and placed in foster care for two years.

Obama's victory dance

While making one final campaign push on Tuesday, President Obama was interviewed on a New Hampshire radio show on which the host asked him about "Gangam Style," the K-Pop hit by Psy that has become a viral smash.

"I just saw that video for the first time," Obama said.

"I think I can do that move, but I'm not sure that the inauguration ball is the appropriate time to break that out.

"Maybe [I'll] do it privately for Michelle," the president said, keeping our hopes alive.

During all of this election hubbub, we forgot to obsess about the royals for a bit.

A source inside Buckingham Palace said that Prince William and Kate Middleton sent a personal note to President Obama congratulating him on his re-election.

Queen Elizabeth is also psyched, says the source. Apparently, she gets along well with the Obamas and was happy they would have an excuse to hang again.

TATTBITS

*  Actress Kirstie Alley, promoting her new memoir, The Art of Men, told Barbara Walters that her "Look Who's Talking" co-star, John Travolta, is definitely not gay, calling him the "love of her life."

Said Alley, who was married to actor Parker Stevenson when she and Travolta shot the film: "It took everything I had inside, outside, whatever, to not run off and marry John and be with John for the rest of my life." Travolta and Alley are both Scientologists.

*  Southern California insurance agent Jerry B. Goldman was apprehended by the feds after allegedly bilking clients - including Tom Hanks and former Police guitarist Andy Summers - out of hundreds of thousands of dollars through an elaborate scheme. We wonder if the judge will be extra hard on Goldman for stealing from Hanks, the most charming man in Hollywood.

Carrie Fisher, who played

Princess Leia in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, said she'd come back to star in a proposed seventh iteration.
