Comcast SportsNet hires local high school basketball star

COMCAST SPORTSNET will welcome a new face at the end of the month as Jen Daniels joins the team.

Daniels' most recent stint as a sports reporter was at the ABC affiliate in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., but her gig at Comcast SportsNet is a homecoming of sorts. Daniels hails from Brigantine, N.J., where she was a basketball star in her own right, making Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section as an eighth-grader at Brigantine North Middle School, and achieving basketball stardom at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, N.J. She attended George Mason University on a full athletic scholarship. Daniels received her masters degree in journalism from Georgetown University.

Daniels will serve as an anchor and reporter in a relatively new climate for Comcast SportsNet. The network is taking over sports reporting duties from NBC10's broadcasts.

Eagles cornerback Brandon Boykin is teaming up with homegrown pop star Gogo Morrow (seriously, she's fantastic, check this lady out) and sneaker spot KicksUSA to talk to students at Henry Houston Middle School in West Mount Airy today. They'll discuss the impact of Martin Luther King Jr. and inspire students to volunteer. After, students and volunteers will give the school a new paint job.

"The Underground Kings," a new crime-styled webseries based in Philadelphia has quite the pedigree. Executive produced by Coatseville-born former NBA star Rip Hamilton, "The Underground Kings," follows a Harrisburg cop (Kevin Savage), who goes undercover in the crew of a notorious Philly crime boss ("The Bourne Legacy's" Christopher Mann) to investigate his partner's shooting.

The series also features "The Wire's" Brian Anthony Wilson, "Silver Linings Playbook" actress and Sexy Single Tiffany E. Green, "Survivor's" Gervase Peterson, R&B singer Jaguar Wright and local actor Walter DeShields. Check it out at theundergroundkings.com.

Big Daddy Graham will mark his 30th anniversary performing in the great state of New Jersey when he and Joe Conklin bring "Two Funny Philly Guys," back to the Broadway Theatre in Pitman N.J. (43 S. Broadway) Feb. 15 with guest emcee, Ray Didinger. Go to thebroadwaytheatre.org for ticket info.

Celeb boxing promoter Damon Feldman wants to make your dreams of becoming a pro wrestler come true in his casting call for a pro-wrestling-meets-boxing event at Chickie's & Pete's (1526 Packer Ave.) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ECW star the Sandman will join boxer Tim Witherspoon to show everyone how it's done (with former Eagle Hollis Thomas guest-reffing the event). Feldman is looking for fighters of both genders and ring ladies.

Morning TV watchers can see Blue Bell's own Angela Marchetti on "Let's Make a Deal" today. The gameshow, hosted by Wayne Brady, airs on CBS at 10 a.m.
