Sideshow: GLAAD Award for Jennifer Lopez

Lopez applause Jennifer Lopez has added a few more trophies to her block. The pop star and American Idol judge was honored Saturday in L.A. at the 25th GLAAD Media Awards with the Vanguard Award for her efforts to increase visibility and understanding of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. Lopez is executive producer of ABC Family's The Fosters, about a family headed by a lesbian couple.

Jennifer Lopez has added a few more trophies to her block. The pop star and American Idol judge was honored Saturday in L.A. at the 25th GLAAD Media Awards with the Vanguard Award for her efforts to increase visibility and understanding of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. Lopez is executive producer of ABC Family's The Fosters, about a family headed by a lesbian couple.

Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox won the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, given to a GLBT entertainer. Norman Lear, veteran producer of such sitcoms at All in the Family and Maude, was given the Pioneer Award.

'Captain' on top

With $41.4 million in its second week of release, Captain America: The Winter Soldier held off Rio 2 - which debuted with $39 million - over the weekend.

A distant third and fourth were the low-budget horror film Oculus, with $12 million, and Kevin Costner's football drama, Draft Day, with $9.8 million.
