Sideshow: Rita Wilson has breast cancer

Rita Wilson told People on Tuesday that she underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery last week. "With my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy . . . after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma," Wilson, 58, said in a statement.

"I am recovering and, most importantly, expected to make a full recovery."

Wilson has been married to Tom Hanks since 1988.

The actress is on sick leave from her Broadway play Fish in the Dark, in which she costars with Rosie Perez.

A viral video that shows Dennis Quaid going totally, utterly, maniacally ballistic on a film set has raised questions from critics who suggest it's a hoax engineered by Quaid and prankster god Jimmy Kimmel.

The piece, rich with four letter words and shot from a cellphone, has Quaid complaining that his concentration on set has been broken by unwanted visitors and stupid staffers.

It looks way too much like Christian Bale's 2008 meltdown that had the Terminator: Salvation star complain about much the same thing.

Congrats to Kimora Lee Simmons, 39, who has welcomed her first baby with current hub, New York financier Tim Leissner, 45. The bairn, Wolfe Lee Leissner, joins three half-siblings, two daughters fathered by Russell Simmons and a son with Djimon Hounsou.

Jemima Kirke, whose character on Girls has had an abortion, says she applied her real-life experiences to the performance. Kirke, 29, who has a son, a daughter, and a stepdaughter, shares her story in a public service ad for the Center for Reproductive Rights. She had the abortion in 2007, she says, when she was in college, at a time that "was not conducive to raising a happy, healthy child." Because she says she had to raise the money herself, she went without anesthesia - to save the additional cost.
