Collins: A dream come true
She's been a frequent guest host, so it wasn't a big surprise Monday when comic Michelle Collins, 34, was named a permanent cohost on gabshow The View. The 15th host to join the show since it launched in 1997, Collins is replacing Rosie Perez.
"I couldn't be happier to join such an awesome, smart, accomplished, and funny group of women," she said in a statement. "Ever since the age of 4 . . . it's been my dream to host a talk show."
Bieb: Sorry about the pic
Canadian sensation Justin Bieber, who recently declared he was now a responsible grown-up, has deleted a photo of his bare derriere from Instagram.
He's even issued an apology.
"Hey I Deleted the photo of my [derriere] on Instagram not because I thought it was bad," he writes, obviously aware that no part of his anatomy could ever be bad, "but someone close to me's daughter follows me and she was embarrassed that she saw my butt and I totally wasn't thinking in that aspect." Remedial grammar classes, anyone?
Dolly meets younger self
Eight-year-old child actor Alyvia Lind (A Deadly Adoption, Transparent) on Monday was told on the Today show she'll play Dolly Parton in an NBC biopic about the country superstar's childhood in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains. She got the news from Parton herself.
Named after a 1971 Parton song, Coat of Many Colors tells of the time Parton was bullied at school when her mom created for her a patchwork coat made out of rags, à la the biblical Joseph. Described as "family-oriented and faith-based," it's one of a series of films NBC is making based on Parton's life and songs.
