The Gross Clinic

Thomas Eakins' painting "The Gross Clinic" is moving out of the conservation studio where it has spent most of the last year, to star in an exhibition about its spiffing up.

Thomas Eakins lived virtually his entire life in Philadelphia, including at 1729 Mount Vernon St. He was a student and later a teacher at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, which with the Art Museum is leading an effort to keep his "Gross Clinic" in the city.
