'Star Wars' Day at Franklin Institute

May the force be with you at the Franklin Institute's Star Wars Day. Show your Star Wars swagger and come dressed as your favorite movie character, see a huge Lego version of the Millennium Falcon space craft, and meet members of the Garrison Carida of the 501st Legion, a Star Wars costuming organization. They will be dressed in galactic fashion, and families can take selfies with their favorite hero or villain from the film series.

Autism for African American Families

The Free Library of Philadelphia's Widener branch on Saturday will screen the two-part film Autism for African American Families, followed by a post-screening discussion.

The film features five families sharing their experiences battling stigmas, myths, and stereotypes about autism. The event will also have health-care resources for families with special-needs children.

'Pinocchio' at Gratz College Theatre

Storybook Musical Theatre presents Pinocchio, a play based on the story by Italian children's author Carlo Collodi. Pinocchio follows the adventures of a wooden puppet who dreams of one day becoming a real life boy for his creator and father, Gepetto.

Can't make it this weekend? It returns July 18 to Gratz.
