Golden Globe nominations:Streaming services edge trad TV makers

Streaming services have edged out traditional television and cable networks, picking up the most nominations for the 73d annual Golden Globe Awards. The awards gala airs Jan. 10 on NBC.

Streaming services have edged out traditional television and cable networks, picking up the most nominations for the 73d annual Golden Globe Awards. The awards gala airs Jan. 10 on NBC.

With Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and Narcos, Netflix leads all TV creators with eight nominations.

Amazon Video also picked up five nominations, with several for its shows Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle.

ABC received the most nominations of the traditional networks, with American Crime earning three of ABC's four nominations.

Nominees:

Best motion picture drama: Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Room, and Spotlight.

Best actress in a motion picture drama: Cate Blanchett, Carol; Brie Larson, Room; Rooney Mara, Carol; Saoirse Ronan, Brooklyn; and Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl.

Best actor in a motion picture drama: Bryan Cranston, Trumbo; Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant; Michael Fassbender, Steve Jobs; Eddie Redmayne, The Danish Girl; Will Smith, Concussion.

Best motion picture musical or comedy: The Big Short, Joy, Cinderella, The Martian, Spy, Trainwreck.

Best actress in a musical or comedy motion picture: Jennifer Lawrence, Joy; Melissa McCarthy, Spy; Amy Schumer, Trainwreck; Maggie Smith, The Lady in the Van; and Lily Tomlin, Grandma.

Best actor, musical, or comedy motion picture: Christian Bale, The Big Short; Steve Carell, The Big Short; Matt Damon, The Martian; Al Pacino, Danny Collins; and Mark Ruffalo, Infinitely Polar Bear.

Best director, motion picture: Todd Haynes, Carol; Alejandro G. Iñárritu, The Revenant; Tom McCarthy, Spotlight; George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road; Ridley Scott, The Martian.

Best TV drama series: Empire, Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot, Narcos, and Outlander.

Best actress, TV drama series: Caitriona Balfe, Outlander; Viola Davis, How to Get Away with Murder; Eva Green, Penny Dreadful; Taraji P. Henson, Empire; Robin Wright, House of Cards.

Best actor, TV drama series: Jon Hamm, Mad Men; Rami Malek, Mr. Robot; Wagner Moura, Narcos; Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul; Liev Schreiber, Ray Donovan.

Best TV comedy series: Casual, Mozart in the Jungle, Orange is the New Black, Silicon Valley, Transparent, Veep.

Best actress, TV comedy series: Rachel Bloom, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; Jamie Lee Curtis, Scream Queens; Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep; Gina Rodriguez, Jane the Virgin; Lily Tomlin, Grace and Frankie.
