The Mask

(9-10:45 p.m., TBS) - Adapted from a comic-book series, this Jim Carrey vehicle is the tale of a timid bank clerk who puts on a mysterious mask, does a few cyclone spins around his apartment, pops his eyeballs Looney Tunes-style and is transformed: a grinning goon with a guacamole face and a personality in hyperdrive. When Carrey is in his non-Mask mode, the film gets flabby, but when the star's face turns green and his limbs get limber, this cartoon-y creation becomes an amazing fusion of physical comedy and state-of-the-art gimmickry.
