Sideshow: MJ's daughter hospitalized

Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris, 15, was rushed to a hospital Wednesday from the family house in Calabasas, Calif., after cutting her wrists in an apparent suicide attempt. It followed a series of bizarre tweets. In the latest, she wrote, "yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay."

Paris' mom, Debbie Rowe, told Entertainment Tonight Paris has had "a lot going on." That may include pressure to testify in her family's suit against Michael's concert promoter, AEG. A lawyer for matriarch Katherine Jackson  told USA Today, "Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate . . . attention."

The Michael Douglas Oral Sex Throat Cancer Circus continues unabated, this time in the able hands of media juggler Barbara Walters. The View co-host, who is close with Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, said Wednesday she was worried those incorrect reports that Douglas believed he got cancer after contracting a virus from oral sex falsely imply Douglas "was blaming his wife for giving him the HPV virus," Babs said. She added, "Michael would like everyone to know that his wife . . . does not have the . . . virus."

Showtime announced Wednesday that The Borgias, its "complex, unvarnished," if very polished, titillating, babes-heavy Renaissance potboiler, will go to its eternal rest after this, its third season. The series, which featured a commanding performance by Jeremy Irons as Pope Alexander VI and costarred François Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, and Joanne Whalley, will conclude June 16.

Canada's greatest export since maple syrup, Justin Bieber (just as bad for your blood pressure), has become the first Homo sapiens to reach 40 million followers on Twitter. Donny Misraje, described in legal papers as "a very close friend of [Adam] Carolla's for over 30 years," is suing the comic for the second time this year. He claims he owns the copyright to some photos in Adam's memoir, Not Taco Bell Material.

Gallic proto-electronica outfit Daft Punk retains the top spot on the Billboard album chart for a second week in a row with Random Access Memories, which sold an additional 93,000 units this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Grunge nostalgia act Alice in Chains storms the chart with The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, which sold 61,000 copies to debut at No. 2. Wrote a Song for Everyone, from rock stalwart John Fogerty, 68, debuted at No. 3 with 51,000. The LP features Fogerty jamming with a slew of pop-music all-stars, including Creedence Clearwater Revival, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, and Jennifer Hudson.

Saturday Night Fever icon John Travolta, 59, was in Georgia to renew his pilot's license when he ran into a lovely young couple at a bar who told him they were getting hitched the next day. A Reddit post tells the rest of the story: Travolta crashed the party and took pictures with the bride and groom. He was "nice and down to earth about the whole ordeal," a photo caption says. May the lucky couple have many Travolta-shaped babies.
