National HIV Testing Day: Take the Test, Take Control
It's National HIV Testing Day - have you been tested?

Today is the National HIV Testing Day - have you been tested?
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that more than one million people are living with HIV in the United States. Nearly 1 in 5 of those million people are unaware they are even infected.
What is HIV/AIDS? How do you get it?
AIDS.gov provides the simplest explanation of what HIV/AIDS is: HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus attacks your T-cells and uses them to make copies of itself. HIV becomes AIDS, or Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome, when the virus has destroyed so many T-cells that your body can no longer fight off disease or infections.
You can become infected with HIV when blood or other bodily fluids like semen, pre-seminal fluid, breast milk, vaginal fluids, and rectal mucous enter your body. Transmission of these fluids happens during sexual contact, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, injection drug use, occupational exposure, blood transfusion or organ transplant.
